West Edmonton Mall

West Edmonton Mall is North America's largest shopping and entertainment center, which includes eight-hundred shops and services, one-hundred eating establishments , and nine super-cool parks! West Edmonton Mall also features Canada's Galaxy Land! Galaxy Land has twenty-five awesome rides, and a choice of the fun house or a haunted house (which is really scary! ). there is also Fantasy Land Hotel, where each level is a whole different theme (trucks, etc.)!

West Edmonton Mall is located 170 Street NW, Edmonton, AB, and is open from Monday to Saturday 10 AM -9 PM , and Sunday from 11 AM - 5 PM. For more info on Galaxy Land , click here.

I have been to West Edmonton Mall many times and I love all of their thrilling rides and attractions throughout the mall. One of my favourites is the submarine tour underwater! (PS, there is a surprise in the food court!). I give the whole of West Edmonton Mall a 10/10 for all their entertainment, but I rate Galaxy land 9/10 because of their real high prices.

Sikome Lake

Sikome Lake is a man-made lake, located in The SE Corner of Fish Creek Park, Calgary. Sikome lake features two playgrounds, and a swinging rope, and has lifeguards, change rooms, snack bars, and a sandy beach. You don't have to pay admission into Sikome Lake, it is FREE!
Pets aren't permitted at this lake, and you can only BBQ if it is gas-powered and used in lawn areas adjecent to the beach.
I have been to Sikomi Lake before and, even though I prefer natural lakes, I like how they have rope swings and change rooms! However, I give it 9/10 due to the dirty water.

Village Square Leisure Center

The Village Square Leisure Center is one of the top places to hang out with your family! The Leisure Center indoor water park features a huge wave pool, water slides, dive tank, hot tub, steam room, rope swings, and the coolest Safari Splash Zone with swinging bridges, dump buckets, spray guns, and three mini water slides.

The Leisure Center also includes a full-size gym , a jungle gym for little kids ( located next to the pool), two full-size arenas, weight room and fitness studios, and a cafeteria. There is also the Village Square Public Library. Calgary Leisure Center is located 2623 56 St. NE , Calgary.

I have been to The Leisure Center many times, and I love the indoor water park and the wave pool. I've eaten at the cafeteria few times and their food is pretty good. I give the leisure centre 9/10 , because of high admission prices ( For great deals on the prices, click here. )

Prarie Winds Park is a large Park that features a picnic site with a cover, two playgrounds, a water park and spray park, a man-made creek (that almost never runs), outdoor ice skating, a hill for tobagganing in the winter , and many good walking trails.

I have been to Prarie Winds Park alot on those hot summer days and I love to ride my bike on the trails , so I rate this park a 9/10, because the creek should really run full of water!

Build-a-Bear Workshop

Build-a-Bear Workshop is located at Chinook Centre, 6455 Macleod Trail SW, Calgary. At Build-a-Bear, you create and build your own stuffed animals. You choose your animal, then you stuff it and add a special heart. Next, you stitch it up, then you give it a very special spa treatment. Then, you go to their computers to name your stuffed animal , then (my favourite part)pick out its clothes! Last, you take it home in a very special Cub Condo!
The Build-a-Bear Workshop is the ideal place to go to get a gift for a little (or big) girl. To visit their website, click here. Build-a-Bear Workshop is also in other locations.
I have been to Build-a-Bear Workshop twice, and I was satisfied with their products , employees, and the system they use. I rate it as a 9/10 because their prices are a little high for just a stuffed animal.

Bowling Depot

The Bowling Depot is a great place to spend a rainy day and if you arrive at 6 P.M or later on Friday or Saturday, you will get to go bowling in the Thunder Alley! Thunder Alley is their glow bowling service, and it lasts from 6 P.M to closing time. The Bowling Depot is also a great place to host a party! They have separate party rooms and some great useful deals for cheap bowling fun.

For more information on those deals, click here. Regular prices for adults is $5.25, for kids it's $5.00 and for Seniors $5.00. The Bowling Depot is located at 64 avenue NE, Calgary, on the South side of Deer Foot Mall.

I have been to the Bowling Depot many times, and even hosted a party there once. Their pizza is pretty good but greasy, and they have a game room. The Bowling Depot also has a juke box , so bring a few toonies or loonies. I give Bowling Depot 9/10, because the bathrooms could be a little tidier!

Calgary Zoo

The Calgary Zoo is a great place for family fun and discovery, and now until October they have DINOSAUR'S ALIVE! These are robotic dinosaurs that move and roar, located in the prehistoric park! (Watch out, some toddlers get very scared by this!). The Calgary Zoo is open every day of the year from 9 A.M- 5 P.M , except December 25 .

For information on the Calgary Zoo admission costs, click here. A kids annual pass is a great deal at only $18 (includes free parking each visit which is usually $5), you can get to see your favourite animals by just scanning your pass each time. In 2012, the Zoo is making room for penguins! Also new right now are the Carousel and kiddy-train near the west entrance! (Bring some loonies and toonies cuz it's $3 a ride each)

I have been to the Calgary Zoo many times and it is an ideal place for a picnic! Their park is kid friendly and very spacious, and the Zoo's ice cream is delicious!

Park 'n Play

Park 'n Play is a FREE program by the City of Calgary. Parents can drop off their kids aged 6-12 years old from anytime between 10 a.m - 3:30 p.m. Park 'n Play includes many fun activities and crafts for the kids and some locations serve hot lunch or snacks.

Park 'n Play locations vary throughout Calgary. Click Here for more info. They're always on a big field, such as a school field.

I 've been to Park 'n Play a few times and I had lots of fun playing games with other children my age. There is quite a few friendly staff and volunteers to supervise us, and there is a portable bathroom or they take you on a bathroom break to the school next door so you don't have to hold it until your parents come!

I give it 10/10 because it's FREE and FUN!
